Seven Days - Sting from the album "Ten Summoner's Tales"
               Transcription by Luis Ferreira

{ If you want to give that cool sound of the beginning of the song, just }
{ pull the A string alone and then the D, G and B strings simultaneously, }
{ and immediatly muting them with your palm, or whatever. But if you want }
{ to do this, I guess it all sounds better with barre (whatever) chords, }
{ otherwise the strings will ring too much... }

Cmaj7
"Seven days" was all she wrote
   D# A#
A kind of ultimatum note
     G F Fadd9
She gave to me, she gave to me

Cmaj7
When I thought the field had cleared
    D# A#
It seems another suit appeared
     G E
To challenge me, woe is me

 Cmaj7
Though I hate to make a choice
    D# A# G
My options are decreasing mostly rapidly
 F Fadd9
Well we'll see

Cmaj7
I don't think she'd bluff this time
   D# A#
I really have to make her mine
      G
It's plain to see
      E E7
It's him or me

 Fmaj7 Fmaj7/F# G
Monday, I could wait till Tuesday
   E7/G# Am
If I make up my mind
 Fmaj7 G E7/G# Am
Wednesday would be fine, Thursday's on my mind
F#7-5/nr Am F#7-5/nr
Friday give me time, Saturday could wait
     Fm Cmaj7
But Sunday'd be too late

Cmaj7
The fact he's over six feet ten
      D# A#
Might instill fear in other men
     G F Fadd9
But not in me, The Mighty Flea (flee?)

Cmaj7
Ask if I am mouse or man
     D# A#
The mirror squeaked, away I ran
       G E
He'll murder me in time for his tea

Cmaj7
Does it bother me at all
    D# A# G
My rival is Neanderthal it makes me think
   F Fadd9
Perhaps I need a drink

Cmaj7
IQ is no problem here
   D# A# G
We won't be playing scrabble for her hand I fear
   E E7
I need that beer

 Fmaj7 Fmaj7/F# G
Monday, I could wait till Tuesday
   E7/G# Am
If I make up my mind
 Fmaj7 G E7/G# Am
Wednesday would be fine, Thursday's on my mind
F#7-5/nr Am F#7-5/nr
Friday give me time, Saturday could wait
     Fm Cmaj7
But Sunday'd be too late

A# Cmaj7
Seven days will quickly go
A# Cmaj7
The fact remains, I love her so
A# F
Seven days, so many ways
A# Cmaj7
But I can't run away

 Fmaj7 Fmaj7/F# G
Monday, I could wait till Tuesday
   E7/G# Am
If I make up my mind
 Fmaj7 G E7/G# Am
Wednesday would be fine, Thursday's on my mind
F#7-5/nr Am F#7-5/nr
Friday give me time, Saturday could wait
     Fm Cmaj7
But Sunday'd be too late

      Cmaj7
Do I have to tell a story
      A# Cmaj7 A#
Of a thousand rainy days since we first met
       Cmaj7
It's a big enough umbrella
         A# Cmaj7 A# C
But it's always me that ends up getting wet

Great song, hope you'll like it :)

Cmaj7 x32000 , but I think x35453 sounds better
D# x68886
A# x13331
G 320003 , or 355433
F 133211
Fadd9 xx3213 , but xx3011 will do the job :)
E 022100
Fmaj7 xx3210
Fmaj7/F# xx4210 (just add your pinky to the previous chord)
E7/G# 420100
Am x02210
F#7-5/nr x12310 (/nr stands for NOROOT)
Fm 133111
C x32010

I'm sure there is a better name for that F#7-5/nr chord,
but who cares, anyway? Bah!

| Luis Ferreira | You see a city in the desert lies |

Suggested Change: (Posted by srgburrell@yahoo.co.uk)

Instead of the A# chord at the Bridge, and in the fade at the end, use
the
following chord:

Unknown Chord 110110

The Bridge is the part that begins: Seven Days... The fact remains...
and comes immediately after the second chorus.

I find the use of this chord is more in keeping with the melancholy
tone.
I only came across it by accident, but as soon as i heard it i thought
of
Seven Days! Enjoy! (And thanks to Luis Ferreira for his original post!
I must admit I feel a bit of an usurper, especially coz you're clearly a
more talented guitar player than I am. Hope you don't mind this
amendment!)

Simon

PS Has anyone else noticed that the fading lyrics on this song are the
same
as in the fade for "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic"? Fair do's...
