Breadfan, as Performed by Metallica...

 V V V V
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
-5/'\7---7---5/'\7---7---5/'\7---7--5/'\7---7---5/'\7---7---7-
--------------------------------------------------------------

V V
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
-5/'\7---7---5/'\7---7---(5)/'\7---7---7---5------------------
-----------------------------------------------6---5---3---0--

(The "/'\" means a hammer-on/pull-off. The (5) means a
quick hammer on -- value of note is minute. The 'V's above
the staff mark accented notes. Notice where the accents
fall on the first few notes. I suggest picking light and
hammering hard on the second 5/'\7 to get that 'polyrhythmic'
sound.)

..play this umpteen times, and just before the verse, the tail
of the above goes something like:

--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------(5)/'\7---7---7---5--------------------------
---------------------------------------6---5---3---2---2---0--

During the verse, they play the muted low E string, with E5
and D5 and Eb5 (with roots on the A string...) There are two
parts, and the second differs slightly from the first. I
leave my pointer finger barre across the G and D strings when
playing the E5 and then lift off and hammer on my ring and pinky
fingers back onto the G and D strings. The little 'licks' that
follow these are:

1st time:

---------------------
---------------------
---------------------
----------5----------
--5/'\7-------7------
---------------------

2nd time:

---------------------
---------------------
---------------------
----------5----------
--5/'\7--------7---5-
---------------------

Just before the solo:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------
--------10----------------------8-----------------------5----------
10--12------12~-0---0---8---10------10~--0---0--5---7-------7~-----

-------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------2--------------------------------------------------
-0---0--3---5-------3---4------------------------------------------

(I'm pretty sure this very last part isn't right, but it's
close. Every other time, it changes, but I usually just
improvise something else....)

Following this are a bunch of chord punches, which, I believe,
are 'E5's...During the solo, they do a slide from F#5 to G5 and
a slide from G#5 to A5 and then finish it off with
A5 G5 A5 G5 A5 G5 E5 and then off into the acoustical part.

I'm positive on the acoustical part, but it mostly goes like:

-------------0---3---0---3/'\0-----------------------1--0---1/'\0--
---------0-----------------------0---------------3-----------------
-------------------------------------0-------2---------------------
-----2-----------------------------------0-------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------
-0-----------------------------------------------------------------

----------
----------
-2--------
-----0----
----------
----------

That's about all I can think of, as I don't have the tape here
with me...Hope this helps...
