Subject: TAB: Summer in the City (Lovin' Spoonful)

With summer here I've been toying with this song a bit. The version at
OLGA is quite good, but it's transcribed a half step higher than the
studio version on my CD of the Lovin' Spoonful's Greatest Hits. I'm
not sure if my recording was remastered a half step lower or if Larry had
his guitar tuned a half step lower than normal when he figured out his
version, but in any case I've taken the liberty to revise his version as
follows:

(1) Everything is a half step lower
(2) There seem to be a few small errors in the original, so I've fixed
them where appropriate (a couple of chords, a couple of lyrical changes).
I don't pretend to be perfect, so any comments or improvements are
welcome. Also, thanks to Larry for the original post!

VERSE 1:

Cm Bb
Hot town, summer in the city
F Ab
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty [*see below]
Cm Bb
Been down, Isn't it a pity
F Ab
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
G G7
All around, people looking half dead
Cm C
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head.

CHORUS:

F Bb
But at night it's a different world
F Bb
Go out and find a girl
F Bb
Come-on come-on and dance all night
F Bb
Despite the heat it'll be alright
    Dm G
And Babe, don't you know it's a pity
	 Dm G
That the days can't be like the nights
       Dm G Dm G
In the summer, In the city, In the summer, In the city

VERSE 2:

Cool town, evening in the city
Dressing so fine and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city
Till I'm wheezing like a bus stop
Running up the stairs, gonna meet you at the rooftop.

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright
And Babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, In the city, In the summer, In the city
